Obviously, my worst losses come against beamers. Any ideas about how to survive beams with SS and possible helpers that should be included? Knowledge = Power "A samurai lives his life with but one certainty; he must die: Posted by LordLocke on 02:14:2001 09:14 PM: Don't rush. Take your time to close the distance, wait for them to use an AAA like Cyke, Commando, or Cyclops, block it, and Rami-ken their assist. Samurai, against beamers, kills assists first, THEN the beamer, and I don't care if the assist is a Sentinal that somehow got a defence-up, two Rami-kens as an assist, and they're dead... maybe even one with a low-stamina character like Strider that somehow posisions themselves right above the sword. If they stop using assists to let them heal, all I have to say is rush that shit down. Jump-in chains into Shurikens for chip is a very effective way to deal with a beamer without assists. It's not shopping if I don't plan to pay for it! Posted by Syndicate on 02:14:2001 09:48 PM: ...I like to play a chipping game w/Silver Samurai. I team him up w/Doom and Blackheart both AAA. My goal isn't to generally hit them (I'll take a combo or super if given the chance though), but to make them block with the Doom's AAA and chipping them with shuriken regulars, supers, and occasionally the ice super that must be blocked low. Take out assists with the rami-ken (I think you can mash for more damage). Posted by Cybermitsu on 02:15:2001 08:12 PM: silenttiger - beamers are the worst type of people for samurai to fight. They make it extremely hard for samurai to get close to him, throwing out everything including the kitchen sink. Best thing to do is to take your time and close the distance slowly. Worst thing that you could do would probably pushblock a move because it sets your opponent farther back from you, basically reseting your attempt to get in closer. Best assists for samurai would be and AAA because you can lay down a Raimei Ken as they are getting hit by the AAA. LordLocke - IIRC, I killed a full Juggy assist with a Raimei Ken. The thing is that the assist usually needs to be behind samurai to get the full raping affect. Syndicate - I also play a chipping game with sam. Well, I'll post more tips later tonight or in the afternoon if I am lucky. Cybermitsu - The only Silver Samurai player in So. I replaced Doom with Sentinel, and it worked great. I actually think that Sent works better than Doom b/c of his armor and priority not to mention when Silver Sam is out you can use the Sentinel/Blackheart trap. A nice combo to try is call Sentinel assist -> throw shuriken xx shuriken super. Remember the goal is to make them block this (it does decent damge if it hits) and watch their life bar melt away About the ice super, well it does have its uses. I usually only use two meter for the ice power up (for super armor). After which I use the ice super when ever I have meter b/c generally people can't stop you and forget to block low...air combo repeat. I find more often than not you'll hit an assist in the process. Posted by Shuzer on 02:16:2001 06:51 PM: Samurai is actually best off with Doom assist, IMO. Like people have said, it's best to play a chipping game with him, and no assist helps chip more than Doom. And since you probably won't get many chances to get in close, you want to do as much as you can when you get the chance. Basic SS chip pattern with Doom: J. Roundhouse(crossup) + Doom assist, \/, Shuriken, Shuriken xx Super Shuriken This gets about 30-40% chip damage, which is what you'll need to be doing with Sam if you really want to stay in the game with him. Team choices? Doom/Samurai as the main part, then Storm, Blackheart, or Sentinel for the last spot. DHC Photons to Lightning is great. (btw, Powerups are useless. He needs enough meter as is.) Posted by Terazon on 02:16:2001 09:07 PM: Based on my experiences when someone says beamers they mean a certain beamer in perticular; Cable. A friend of mine used to use the team of Storm, Silver Samurai and Sentinel before he got bored of Sentinel and replaced him with Thanos to get an anti-Sentinel DHC. Anyways, What he does is he builds 3-5 levels and leaves Sentinel at 3rd in his line up. Then he DHC all the way to Sentinel and kills your assist, or the point man. Then Cable can't hide behind it, and dies swiftly and easily. This isn't a cut and dried procedure either; His first character ever was Cable so he can destroy him without even being challenged in most cases. In case you didn't notice, everything is a radius effect or dual directional super each team member is DHCing into. Use Sam's mini launcher and go for it! Lorde Locke has the right idea for the most part for beamers. The absolute best way to learn how to destroy any character is to learn how to use them well NEVER forget that. People are always more than willing to rape that character exposing it's weaknesses for you. Good Luck!!!! I forgot which... c. forward is the mini-launcher. It has the same effect as IM's c.strong: doesn't allow for a full-on air combo but someone can easily connect a super off of it. As for the whole elemental debate: IMO it is all for show. If it was sorta natural for him to change elementals, than he could be one of the most balanced characters to date. Want an air-shuriken? Go to lightning power up. Want a pretty nasty combo in the corner off of a super shuriken? Use fire power up and do the flame column super. Need to chip off 50% with a glitch or a 100%? Use ice power up and freeze their ass. Since all of his power ups need super bars, it is a waste of a good super that could have been used to rape an assist/chip. As for partners for Samurai, as I have stated previously, anyone that has a good AAA is sweet because of an easy link to the raimei ken. However, you might also think about going for an assist that forces your opponent to stay in one position for a short duration of time. That way you can lay the chippage smack down. Posted by Iceman on 02:19:2001 07:16 PM: I like Storm/Doom/Samurai. LightningStorm/Photons/Lightning super make a nice DHC. I think the only elemental worth using is one level of Ice mode, if you have a phat lead and am trying to kill the clock. Having 46% stamina is great when time is on YOUR side. I've chipped massive amounts (enough to kill some characters) with the ice super, but I always thought it was due to the high damage level of the machine. Ice Mode x3, get opponent near middle of the screen, QCF+KK. Does like 40% to Cable, about 75% to Jug. All times are GMT. The time now is 01:31 AM.
